Immediately north of Highland Park and five miles north of Downtown Dallas, University Park has enjoys the same hallmarks of Highland Park: excellent public schools, convenient shopping and public tennis courts, parks, and a swimming pool. As with Highland Park, it is a separate town with its own schools and delightful family personality. The neighborhood shares a love of the community and numerous families grow up in “U.P.,” and choose to raise their family within blocks of their family home. Highland Park Independent School District (HPISD) is a consolidated school district, serving residents in both Highland Park and University Park. The district includes four elementary schools, one middle school, one intermediate school and Highland Park High School. It is recognized as one of the best public school systems in Texas and in the United States with more than 95 percent of the district’s students attending college after graduation.
